Joplin Emancipation

"Park Days 2024"
August

2nd - 4th

The planning of this year's Joplin Emancipation "Park Days" Celebration is officially underway!

The Emancipation Celebration Committee is proud to announce its Annual Emancipation "Park Day" Celebration at Ewert Park in Joplin, MO.  Emancipation "Park Days" is a Joplin tradition, having been celebrated annually since at least 1914 (over 100 years).

The purpose of Emancipation "Park Days" Celebration is to provide a cultural event that educates on African American freedom and achievement.  We use this event to promote cultural diversity and respect for all cultures.  This event is also used to support other Committee objectives which are to serve, educate and advocate in our community.

As in years past, we have three full days of community activities planned and are extremely excited about increasing community participation, while also attracting visitors from surrounding areas.  Activities include: live entertainment, 15th annual car show, kids fun run, resource booths, Kids Fest, Movie in the Park, Kid's Market, picnic, vendors, kids crafts, and much more!  All activities are free to the public, everyone is welcome!

Historically, Emancipation Celebration has been a time of family reunion for local African American families. However, with Joplin, MO having only a 7% African American population, families have bi-racial children, mixed-race marriages, and adopted children from various ethnic backgrounds, the celebration aims to teach African American history and culture while uniting all races in the community.

We would like to take a moment to THANK our Joplin Emancipation Park Days official event Sponsors in years past!

Please like this post & show your appreciation for their support. Without sponsorship support, this event would not be possible.
