Join Joplin Public Library and the Post Art Library for an all-ages Black History Month celebration on
Saturday, February 22nd from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM.
The program will begin with a Living History presentation in which Nanda Nunnelly portrays Ona Judge, a courageous enslaved woman who escaped from and was relentlessly pursued by our first president, George Washington.
Following this presentation, attendees are invited to visit interactive booths honoring notable African-American figures in both the past and present; topics will include local history, arts and culture, and African-American inventors.
JPL and PAL are proud to partner with the Minnie Hackney Community Service Center of Joplin and the Emancipation Committee for this exciting event.
